Cold Spring Mayor Kathleen E. Foley, Nelsonville Mayor Chris Winward, and Philipstown Supervisor John Van Tassel Back Cait’s Campaign
OSSINING, NY – Today, NY-17 congressional candidate Cait Conley announced the endorsements of three Putnam County Elected Officials: Cold Spring Mayor Kathleen E. Foley, Nelsonville Mayor Chris Winward, and Philipstown Supervisor John Van Tassel.

Cait is proud to have the support of local leaders who know what it takes to deliver results for their communities. Their support highlights Cait’s commitment to fighting for the Hudson Valley in Congress and her proven track record of stepping up when it matters most, from the battlefield to the White House Situation Room.
“When we take public office at every level of government, we swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. Cait takes that oath seriously, as do we” said Kathleen E. Foley, Mayor of Cold Spring. “She is prepared to fight to protect our rights and freedoms in these tumultuous times. To me, that is THE issue in this race. Moreover, Cait knows that local governments depend on reliable, retribution-free federal funding to deliver the major capital and infrastructure projects we need right here in Cold Spring. Flipping District 17 and sending Cait to the Capitol is key to stabilizing the Congress and restoring the balance of power in Washington. We need DC to get back on the real challenges our communities face”
“This is no ordinary time and we need exceptional leadership,” said Chris Alice Winward, Mayor of Nelsonville. “I support Cait Conley because she is focused on moving America forward with better job opportunities, lower cost of living, infrastructure and protecting our freedoms. Cait’s 16 years of service as an Army combat veteran and national intelligence expert have more than proven her commitment and love of our country. She will be ready to lead at the federal level on day one.”
“The importance of democrats regaining congressional district 17 has produced several great candidates. The national attention for republicans to hold it will bring a true battle! Only one candidate is battle proven and ready for the fight. Cait has proven herself at West Point and in the field to be ready for this challenge. Take the time to meet her and see for yourself.” said John Van Tassel, Philipstown Supervisor.
“I’m honored to have the support of Mayor Foley, Mayor Winward, and Supervisor Van Tassel, leaders who deliver for their communities every single day,” said NY-17 Democratic candidate Cait Conley. “They know that Hudson Valley families need lower costs, better jobs, quality healthcare, and leaders who will actually deliver for them. I’m grateful they trust me to be the fighter Hudson Valley families need in Congress. I’ve spent my life answering the call to serve: graduating from West Point, deploying multiple times to combat zones like Iraq and Afghanistan, and fighting terrorism on the National Security Council and at CISA. Now, I’m bringing that same mission-first leadership home to the Hudson Valley. I’ll fight for my home the same way I fought for this country and together, we’re going to flip this seat and deliver real results for the Hudson Valley.”
About Cait Conley:
Cait Conley is a fourth-generation Hudson Valley native, decorated combat veteran, and national security expert who has spent her life answering the call to serve. That call began on 9/11, when, as a junior in high school, she watched the Twin Towers fall. The next day, she started her West Point application — earning acceptance and becoming the first in her family to graduate college and then going on later to attend graduate programs at Harvard and MIT. Cait served 16 years as an active duty Army officer, deploying six times to take down the world’s most dangerous terrorists, and later led counterterrorism efforts on the National Security Council and at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Throughout her career, Cait has been called upon to solve the toughest problems and fix things that are broken. That’s why Cait is running for Congress — to fix a broken system and fight for a better future for New Yorkers.
